Takaful Ikhlas eyes RM211m premium

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Takaful Ikhlas Bhd aims to rake in RM211 million in premium through its collaboration with Agrobank as a preferred takaful partner over the next five years.

Takaful Ikhlas president and CEO Datuk Ab Latiff Abu Bakar said the main objective of the collaboration was to develop a special takaful coverage for the Agro group and for unserved and underserved market.

“The collaboration will make it possible for both parties to make a good and comprehensive business projection,” he said, adding that it was also made for both family takaful and general takaful.

Speaking to reporters after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between both parties here yesterday, Ab Latiff said they would place 50 takaful specialists at selected Agrobank branches to serve the clients.

Agrobank president and CEO Datuk Wan Mohd Fadzmi Wan Othman said the collaboration would help to increase the bank’s fee-based income in the mediumterm.

“We intend to come up with a lot more products with Takaful Ikhlas,” he added.

On another note, Ab Latiff said Takaful Ikhlas and Agrobank had also launched a takaful plan for the disabled, the Agro Nurani, in January.

So far, he said, it had managed to attract almost 350 policyholders, with a total premium contribution of RM28,000.

“By year-end, we should be able to get at least 2,500 applications for the scheme.

“We will also launch the education takaful plan by mid-year,” he added.

To date, Takaful Ikhlas recorded more than two million policyholders and more than 5,000 agents. – Bernama
