600 TAKE PART IN VOLUNTEER SCHEME

TANJUNG MALIM: A total of 600 volunteers comprising students and staff from 13 polytechnics in the country participated in the Yes! Perdana Volunteer Programme Series 1 at the Sultan Azlan Shah Polytechnic in Behrang. The two-day programme, which began on Wednesday and organised in collaboration with 1Malaysia For Youth (iM4U) and Yayasan Bina Upaya Darul Ridzuan, saw volunteers taking part in house works such as painting, roof and electrical wiring repairs at 25 houses in 13 villages in Behrang and Slim River near here. Perak Women Development, Social Welfare, Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Rusnah Kassim said such a programme had benefited both the students and the villagers. – Bernama
