Try trampoline fitness if you want to train your legs and bum

-

MOST people remember trampolines from playgrounds and physical education lessons in school, but these platforms are increasingly being found in fitness studios.

“When we started out in 2014, we were the only ones,” says JeanPierre Ulrich, of the firm Jumping Fitness.

The company both gives fitness trainers the essentials in trampolining exercises and also markets the actual devices.

But these aren’t any regular trampolines. They don’t even look like them. For safety reasons, fitness trampolines have an additional grip, and the jumping surface has greater tension, Ulrich notes.

“The upper body should remain stable while training,” the expert says.

Power should go out of the abdominal area onto the trampoline, and the sport trains above all the legs, the butt and the body’s core. If you practise regularly, you will also be exercising your endurance.

Training is usually done in groups, with music, and participants spend their whole workout springing on their trampolines. The sport is appropriate for almost anyone, Ulrich says.

“In their trampoline, everyone has their own space,” he says.

This allows participants to decide for themselves the intensity they want to train at.

There are no complicated choreographies, so anyone can join in, from beginners to trampoline experts. Only people with cardiovascular problems or injuries need check with their doctors before taking up the sport. – dpa
