For the love of mum
> Special events held for mothers nationwide
PETALING JAYA: Mother’s Day, the annual occasion where children take the opportunity to express their love and appreciation to their respective mothers, was celebrated throughout the country, yesterday.
Across the nation, people were seen treating mothers to special lunches and dinners to celebrate.
In PUTRAJAYA, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim kicked-off the national-level Mother’s Day celebrations at the Alamanda shopping centre.
Organised by the National Population and Family Development Board under the ministry, members of the public, especially mothers, were treated to freebies and offered free health checks at the shopping centre.
In IPOH, Aeon Kinta City Mall organised a do-it-yourself flower craft activity to give families an opportunity to appreciate their mothers.
The event was chosen to engage the families in a fun-filled activity.
Upon completion of their flower craft, participants were able to take it home free of charge.
In KANGAR, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim fed cake to 94-year-old Embun Saad at the state-level Mother’s Day celebration at Kampung Kuala Sanglang.
Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak called on the people to show their deepest gratitude and appreciation to mothers.
In his Mother’s Day message, the prime minister said all mothers have devoted themselves to their children and it is only right that their children showed appreciation for all the kindness that their mothers have showered on them.
“All of us should show our deep gratitude and appreciation to our mothers because they have brought us up and showed us love.
“On a personal note, I also would like to wish my mother (Tun Rahah Mohammad Noah) and my wife (Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor) a Happy Mother’s Day,” said Najib in a video posted on his official Facebook page yesterday.
