Hit-and-rob gang busted

PETALING JAYA: Police busted a hitand-rob gang responsibl­e for at least 10 cases of car hijacking and robbery with the arrest of seven men and two women on Wednesday.

The first five suspects were nabbed while in possession of two stolen vehicles and a shotgun.

It is learnt they had robbed an exarmy officer of his car a day earlier at a highway toll plaza in Taman Seri Muda.

Apart from the car, the victim also lost a shotgun he kept in the vehicle.

On Wednesday, police patrolmen spotted the five suspects moving several items, including the shotgun, from the stolen car into another vehicle at an undisclose­d location in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong.

All five were arrested and later led investigat­ors to four other accomplice­s in Shah Alam and here.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the suspects, who are in their 20s and 30s, are believed to be responsibl­e for carjacking and robbery cases in which they staged “accidents” in the Klang Valley.

In a separate case in Ampang, two men armed with parang who barged into a restaurant at the Ampang Water Front on Sunday and robbed the cashier of RM500, were arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Hamzah Alias said yesterday the suspects, aged 33 and 36, were arrested in Ampang and Ulu Langat, adding that several stolen items were seized from the suspects. – by Charles Ramendran
