Police e-systems launched

- BY ASHWIN KUMAR

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have launched two new portals that allow city folk to make non-criminal related reports online and another system to check on the status of reports made nationwide.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Amar Singh said the E-Reporting System and Online Checks System will make it easy to lodge reports and check its status.

He said those who had lost their identity cards or passports could now lodge their reports online.

The two sites can be accessed via ereporting.rmp.gov.my and sso.rmp.gov. my

Amar said the E-Reporting system, that was initially a pilot project at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail police station, has now been extended to 24 stations in the city.

“Efforts towards modern policing are in line with the country’s agenda and its national transformation movement, that aims to facilitate police efforts in maintaining peace and security.

“These projects will enable members of the public to lodge police reports on noncriminal cases such as the loss of important documents and cases of domestic helpers running away in the city,” he said after launching the two systems at the General Operations Force headquarters yesterday.

“Of the total 365,024 reports lodged in the city last year, about 85% were not investigated because there were no elements of crime involved. This year, about 168,274 reports were lodged and 25 EReports were received at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail police station.

E-reporting is only open to Malaysians aged 18 and above.
