UNIQLO recently held an exclusive media preview to present the brand’s latest partnership with fashion designer Hana Tajima. The newest Hana Tajima for Uniqlo Autumn/Winter 2017 collection is a widely anticipated series, and one that impressed the audience with its line-up of warm-hued clothing and structured items.

Suitable for the modest, modern women, this release introduces new and original textured materials such as tweed, as well as new designs including the belted long coat.

The carefully selected colour palette also allows for trending one-tone styling, among a wide variety of options that can be enjoyed throughout the season.

To showcase the versatility of this collection, Uniqlo organised a styling session with its in-house stylist, Andrea Kee, as well as a hijab stylist, Hany Hamid.

Meanwhile, the four celebrities roped in for modelling were Narisa Soraya, Sarah Hildebrand, Alicia Amin, and Eleena Sui.

The celebrities were styled in items from the new collection and were able to express various styles suited to their personalities thanks in large part to the versatility of the A/W 17 collection.

“Hana has always designed her items in a very flexible manner and this collection is no different. For example, the outerwear this time can be styled at least a few different ways, so you can wear the same thing for a few days without anyone knowing,” elaborated Kee.

Hany, on the other hand, gushed about the effortlessness of the hijab pieces.

“They are very easy to be styled and maintained. Unlike others, where you have to spend a lot of time ironing and pinning, the ones in this collection drapes nicely and easily. All you need to do is twist it around or tie a knot and it’ll stay the whole day. I am also very fond of the fabric used in this collection. It’s lightweight, airy and friendly enough for our humid weather,” she added.

While the series is aimed at the modest market, its overall aesthetic is great for any woman who is looking for comfortable and chic clothing.

Kee agreed as much, “I’m quite drawn to the colour palette this time around. Though the colours are muted, they’re surprisingly easy to mix and match. Say, you can pair a mustard-coloured top with a pair of blue, grey or purple pants – everything goes because the earth tone colour palette is quite harmonious and goes well with anything.”

The collection will be available nationwide from June 2 and will comprise 23 items, inclusive of printed and solid colours. Styling do’s & don’ts

Do you like the Hana Tajima for Uniqlo A/W 2017 collection? Well, you can now amp it up with these nuggets of wisdom from Uniqlo Malaysia in-house stylist, Andrea Kee.

Do identify the colours that you usually wear. With that being said, there are many colour options this time, so feel free to experiment.

Do determine the kind of coverage level that you’re comfortable with. However, as this is primarily a modest series, the lengths are all appropriate for conservative wearers.

Don’t layer too much. You have to keep our weather in mind, and remember that layering too much makes your outfit bulky and will mess with the natural shape of the clothes.

Made’s ethical jewellery collections are handmade in Kenya by skilled artisans using environmentally friendly materials. Many pieces are made from recycled brass, which is sourced for a fair price from local communities.

Patagonia

American outdoor brand Patagonia has made a huge effort to show that their love of nature is about more than just selling clothes. All cotton used is exclusively organic, while fleece, wool and down are all recycled. The brand also offers repairs to encourage customers to keep their garments for longer.

Adidas

If you are eyeing sustainable running shoes, check out the brand’s Parley editions of its bestselling Ultraboost sneakers. The collection is made from marine plastic, with each pair reusing an average of 11 plastic bottles worth of debris.
