JJPTR press conference cancelled
GEORGE TOWN: A scheduled press conference by JJ Poor To Rich (JJPTR) Farlim branch representative at 4pm yesterday was cancelled due to the high profile nature of the case.
The representative, who only wanted to be known as Lim, said he had to cancel the event at Thein Teik Business Centre because of the attention it would attract from the public.
“The press conference was for media only but news about it had spread to the public as well.”
He said his purpose was to explain about how the JJPTR scheme works and to provide more information on its founder, Johnson Lee.
He claimed certain media organisations have painted JJPTR and Lee in a negative manner and slammed it as unethical.
In TAIPING, Lee and two of his associates were remanded until today for further investigations into the company’s investment scheme. Magistrate Sharifah Izura Syed Mashor granted the order at 2pm yesterday.
The trio were brought in a police truck to the court building at 8.25am.
They were represented by Mohd Shukri Ahmad Mansor and G. Jaya Prem Krishnan.
Perak Commercial Crime Investigation Department head Supt Lee Ewe Kiang said they were arrested to facilitate investigations after a man lodged a report at the Kamunting police station recently involving a loss of RM4,700 in the investment scheme.
On Sunday, the trio were taken to the Taiping police headquarters from Penang at 7.30pm.
A request to remand them further in Penang was rejected by the magistrate court there.
They were earlier arrested on May 16 and released on police bail in Petaling Jaya on Friday after their remand expired.
However, they were rearrested and handed to Penang police for further investigations.
