Chance to be part of the SEA Games celebration

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Want to be a part of the 29th SEA Games or 9th Asean Para Games (KL2017) celebration in August?

You can do so by participating in the 2017 SEA Games Run that will be held on the same day as the SEA Games Marathon on Aug 19.

According to Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, the run is the first of its kind and participation is open to both Malaysians and foreigners.

“The SEA Games Run 2017 is divided into two categories of varying distance, where the first category is a 15km run and it is open to individuals aged 18 and above whereas the second category is a 5km fun run that targets participation from families.

“Runners who complete the run will receive a special SEA Games Commemorative medal, certificate and T-shirt, goodie bag and a one-day personal accident insurance cover. Runners for the 15km run will also be provided with a bib number and time chip,” Khairy said during the media launch for the run yesterday.

He said the run is not a competition as no prizes will be given to the top runners. The competition is for the public to join them on the field on the first day of KL2017 and show support for the SEA Games Marathon.

Registration for the run is now open, and will close on June 30, or earlier if the target of 20,000 participants is achieved. Registration can be done at the office of the Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur Athletic Association or via post to FTKLAA by attaching a completed registration form with proof of payment.

Interested individuals can also register for the run at www. kualalumpur2017.com.my. – by Adrian Phung
