Art of vaastu & feng shui
IN FENG SHUI, there are two primary natural forms which must be respected and utilised – water and mountains. In the analogy of the Tao, water is the yang, or active principle, while the mountains represent the yin, or passive principle.
The Chinese based the art and science of orientating and setting buildings upon the workings of mysterious Earth forces which were known as feng shui, literally meaning ‘wind and water’.
Feng shui practitioners believe the Earth is criss-crossed with energy lines that are affected by virtually all geographical and topographical phenomena.
This means that we are affected by our environment, and we in turn, modify our environment by what we do within it.
It was common to recommend that places of dwelling or cultivation lie on the South side of mountains so that the mountain’s strength would deflect the northern winds, sparing crops the worst of early frosts and winter storms.
Houses, that were thus orientated, benefited from the gentle and warming qi or energy of the southern sun.
It was also insisted upon by geomancers that much reverence needed to be paid to the ‘veins of the dragon’, which represented the strength of the mountain.
These veins should not be severed, such as cutting through a hill to make a road, as such action would manifest itself as bad luck and misfortune for the people living near the foot of the hill.
The energy in our bodies, the energy of our minds, and the energy of our surroundings have a deep and profound impact on our lives.
Accumulating clutter and waste, ignoring your bed orientation and direction, or even introducing artifacts, plants and even décor which have negative feng shui, will disturb the energy of the premises.
Repairing and renovating afflicted sectors, and keeping the wrong doors and windows open, are some common mistakes by occupants of a building which may require feng shui and vaastu corrections.
Living and working in places that reflect an energy imbalance can intensify many of the challenges and stresses of everyday life.
Any energy imbalances and interrupted flow of qi in the home or office can contribute to a lack of success in many areas of your life, such as health, relationships, finances, career, motivation,
