Ismail Sabri wants stern action on MP over mosque incident

-

BERA: Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob called for stern action to be taken against Subang MP R. Sivarasa for making a speech in the prayer hall of the An-Nur Mosque in Kampung Melayu, Subang recently.

He said the PKR leader’s action in using the mosque for his political agenda clearly showed his disrespect for the religion.

“Previously, non-Muslim PKR and DAP political members who had used mosques to give talks were warned not to repeat the act but it is still happening. It looks like they are not bothered by the Sultan’s decree and are belittling our religion. It is alright to make a speech outside the mosque under a tent but not inside the prayer hall,” he told reporters after presenting aid at Masjid Darul Fikri, here yesterday.

“As such I hope stern action would be taken as a deterrent to others because they have already been warned several times.

In JOHOR BARU, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said for years it had been established that only certified Muslim preachers were allowed to give lectures in mosques and surau in the state.

He said so far there has been no case of non-Muslims found giving lectures in mosques or surau, he told reporters after presenting Ramadan gifts at Dewan Taman Cendana, Pasir Gudang, yesterday.

On May 31, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was reported to be upset and disappointed with Sivarasa for giving a political speech at the An-Nur Mosque in Kampung Melayu, Subang which had also raised the ire of the local community. – Bernama
