Director denies graft charges

ALOR STAR: A Community Developmen­t Department (Kemas) director in Putrajaya pleaded not guilty in the sessions court on Saturday to two counts of corruption involving RM159,053.22.

Mohd Adnan Md Daud ( pix), 54, made the plea after the charges were read out before judge Azman Abu Hassan.

On the first count, Mohd Adnan, who was then a developmen­t officer with Selangor Kemas, was charged with accepting a bribe of RM73,000 from one Sah Hizam Halim as an inducement to appoint Perniagaan Naluri Pertama to supply milk powder to Permata child care centres.

It was also as an inducement to appoint Alpha Elite Resource to supply chocolate milk powder to the centres.

He was alleged to have accepted the money at the Alor Star Maybank branch on Dec 14 last year.

On the second charge, Mohd Adnan was alleged to have accepted RM86,053.22 from Sah Hizam as an inducement to appoint Perniagaan Naluri Utama to supply biscuits, worth RM78,246, and to supply and send milk powder, worth RM123,786, to the child care centres.

The money was also as an inducement for Mohd Adnan to appoint One Blue Diamond Enterprise to send additional food supply worth RM130,410; Golden North Enterprise to supply cereal worth RM62,505; and Malbery Enterprise to supply biscuits, worth RM94,702, to the child care centres.

He was also alleged to have accepted the money as an inducement to appoint LD Dinamik Enterprise to supply and send cereal, worth RM59,512, and also additional food, worth RM61,582.50, to the child care centres.

All the companies involved are owned or under the control of Sah Hizam.

Mohd Adnan was alleged to have accepted the money at the Alor Star Maybank branch on Jan 7, 2015.

Both charges were made under Section 17 (a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act.
