Salah set to sign – agent
MOHAMED SALAH (left) could finalise his move to Liverpool by the end of the week after his agent arrived in England.
The former Chelsea winger is understood to have agreed personal terms with the Reds already with only a transfer fee between the Merseyside club and Roma.
Liverpool are willing to make Salah their most expensive ever signing at £35m but the Serie A side are holding out for closer to £40m.
Roma must balance their books by the end of June, according to Corriere dello Sport, and the sale of Salah to the Reds would do just that, with the Italian club already having lined up a replacement for the 24-year-old in Swedish teenager Teddy Bergqvist from Malmo.
And his agent, Ramy Abbas, dropped a huge hint that the deal would be completed imminently after posting a picture of himself driving through the streets of London.
Roma’s sporting director Monchi admitted there was a bid from Liverpool but insisted the club would not be held to ransom over Salah.
“For Salah there is an offer from an English club but the price will be set by Roma, not the buyers,” he told a press conference for the presentation of new coach Eusebio Di Francesco.
“As I’ve said before, Roma is not a supermarket. Roma is a team that will represent Italy in Europe.”
Fellow Liverpool target Dusan Tadic has also suggested he will join this summer after refusing to rule out leaving Southampton this summer.
Tadic’s game time at Southampton has been reduced this season after he fell out with Claude Puel and he has appeared on the Reds’ radar due to his £13m release clause, something he has refused to deny.
Klopp (caricature) is also eyeing a double raid on Bundesliga runners-up RB Leipzig for Naby Keita and Timo Werner, after the duo helped the club qualify for the Champions League for the first time.
Klopp is desperate to bolster his midfield with Keita one of his top targets this summer, but the German side are reluctant to sell after only signing him from their sister club Red Bull Salzburg last summer.
As for Werner, only three strikers scored more times than his 21 strikes over the course of the Bundesliga season the Reds want a natural goalscorer to help deal with Champions League football.
Chelsea’s Dominic Solanke already set to arrive at the end of his contract, despite a compensation dispute, while Hull’s Andrew Robertson is an option at left-back given James Milner had been forced to play there throughout this season. – The Independent
