Ball-bearing rape suspect recaptured
> Police: Escapee tried to rob and sexually assault another victim
KLANG: The robbery and rape suspect who escaped from the North Klang district police headquarters lock-up on Monday was recaptured by police yesterday, about 17 hours after his escape.
The suspect was first arrested on June 13 after raping a 34-year-old housewife in Kampung Rantau Panjang.
During his brief freedom, the 27-yearold Indonesian dubbed “the ball-bearing rapist” for having ball-bearings implanted in his penis, allegedly broke into a house and attempted to rob and rape another woman.
North Klang district police chief ACP Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the man, who was a construction worker, had escaped after he asked to use the toilet while at the police headquarters.
“The incident happened at about 3pm on Monday. He tied his prison pants to the grille of the toilet window and forced it open although his hands were in handcuffs. He then slipped out and escaped.”
A policeman at the guard post tried to nab him but the prisoner was too fast and managed to escape into a jungle nearby.
He added that the suspect had planned his escape, and paid an accomplice to help him remove part of the handcuffs and send him to Kampung Baru Hicom Shah Alam, where he was later caught.
Police received a tip-off that the foreigner was at Section 26 in Kampung Baru Hicom Shah Alam at about 1am yesterday and a police team cordoned off the area before apprehending the suspect at about 7am, with the remaining part of the handcuffs still on one of his wrists.
