The Bandit

-

PARIS-BASED designer Marine Serre has claimed the luxury group's coveted emerging designer award. Juried by the likes of Maria Grazia Chiuri, Marc Jacobs, Nicolas Ghesquiére, and Delphine Arnault, among others, and presented recently by music and fashion icon Rihanna, the prize is designed to spotlight and foster young talents. Who is Marine Serre and what does the LVMH award have to offer her?

A fresh graduate of 2016 who stepped out with the highest honours from Belgium's top design school La Cambre with her first collection “Radical Call for Love”, Marine has been climbing the fashion ranks, working for Maison Martin Margiela and Christian Dior.

Her graduate collection, “Radical Call for Love”, which was internationally stocked for Autumn/Winter 2017-18, fused 19th century Arab luxurious garments (caftan, karakou, sirwal, etc.) with corporate 1990s and 00s sportswear trends. Her futuristic fashion debut is all about expressing hybridity, and working with her existing ties with Brussels where the “Call” was conceived, and with the world at large.

As a result of winning LVMH's top young designer prize, the budding young creative will receive a grant of 300,000 euro and a mentorship with LVMH for one year. To find out more about the young French-Belgian designer's back- COACH Pre-Autumn 2017 introduces the Bandit – a slouchy and no-frills style hobo. This versatile silhouette is two bags in one featuring a detachable interior compartment that can be used on its own – either as a shoulder bag or clutch.

Soft and spacious, the Bandit is crafted in buttery pebble leather. It has minimal hardware to highlight the natural drape of the leather, with contrasting lining adding a bold and textural touch. Select versions of the interior pouch feature a sweet floral print. It’s the ideal bag for every day – and when you're on the go.

The Bandit Hobo bag is available at selected Coach stores from end June onwards.
