‘ No rift between Seng Giaw and leadership’

> Any disputes among members will be settled internally, says acting DAP chairman

PETALING JAYA: There is no bad blood between the top DAP leadership and its Kepong parliamentarian, Dr Tan Seng Giaw, said acting DAP national chairman Tan Kok Wai.

“It is absolutely untrue that there are attempts (to alienate Seng Giaw),” he told theSun.

He said any matter involving disputes among members would be resolved within the party.

Kok Wai, however, declined comment when asked if Seng Giaw had become a liability to the party due to his unpredictable stand.

A recent dispute between Seng Giaw and the party surfaced when DAP secretary-general and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng claimed Seng Giaw has been incommunicado since the beginning of the year.

When contacted, the Kepong MP refuted Lim’s statement, saying he was “just a phone call away”.

Seng Giaw had on June 18 voiced his opinion on the environmental condition in Penang, raising the issue of greenery in Balik Pulau.

The issue had since been capitalised by the state opposition to attack Lim, with Penang MCA chairman Datuk Tan Teik Cheng saying Seng Giaw’s remarks “gave the Penang state government a slap on the face”.
