NCIS is again world’s most-watched TV drama

MILITARY crime show NCIS, which has been the most popular US drama for five straight seasons, is once again king of the world.

NCIS ( left) won the Internatio­nal TV Audience Award at the 57th Monte Carlo TV Festival in Monaco, which closed on Tuesday.

With 47.1 million viewers worldwide, the CBS show came in ahead of competitor­s Criminal Minds and The X-Files.

In the comedy category, The Big Bang Theory retains its title with 39.8 million fans, beating Modern Family for the second year running.

British talent shone particular­ly brightly this year, with awards for Victoria and its star, Jenna Coleman, in drama; as well as Fleabag and its creator and star, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, in comedy.

Meanwhile, The Bold and the Beautiful remains the world’s most-watched soap opera with 13.1 million viewers.

Internatio­nal Audience Award nominees were pre-selected among the top 15 imported fiction programmes in 61 countries, representi­ng almost three billion potential viewers. – AFP-Relaxnews
