IPOH: The Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) in Bandar Meru Raya drew a throng of visitors at its softopening on Tuesday.

Among the many attractions, local hero character BoBoiboy 4D motion adventure on the Floating Island and the Bike and Car Stunt Show seemed to be the crowd’s favourite.

“The bike and car stunt and 4D adventure excited us. It was a first time experience and it is money worth spending,” said Mahadhir Mohamad, 32, a civil servant from Putrajaya who visited the park with his family.

“Part of our Hari Raya celebrations is at the park,” said Mahadhir.

Secondary school teacher Chong Fong Fueng, 46, who visited the park with his wife and three children, said his family enjoyed the outing thoroughly.

“I saw the promotion on Facebook and decided to drive down,” said Chong from Semenyih, Selangor.

Social worker Mabel John, 68, who came with 20 family members, said the 4D theatre was a new experience.

“In fact everything in the park is attractive,” she said.

She added that the tickets are valid for a year.

University student Amnah Zulkifli, 19, from Malacca said she decided to visit the animation park after seeing the promotion on TV.

Amnah, who was among the visitors who rode on the Asteroid Attack, described the ride as a “giddy” experience but said she wasn’t scared.

Bank employee Rajveer Singh, 44, was impressed by the quality of service provided by the staff at the park.

“They were courteous and very helpful.”

Rajveer from Ipoh, who recently visited Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan, said: “The employees at the park can match the services by the Universal Studios staff.”

Describing the park as fantastic project, Perak Tourism, Arts, Culture, Communications and Multimedia committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said it is a catalyst for the tourism industry.

“MAPS is a place for family and fun activities, and it has positioned itself as an attraction in the state as well as in the Southeast Asia region,” she said.

MAPS attracted more then 7,000 people on its first day.

Built on a 20.8ha site, the RM520 million MAPS, houses both international and homegrown Intellectual Properties (IPs) including DreamWorks characters.

The park, with the tagline “Live Your Dreams”, has more than 40 attractions in six themed zones.

The zones are Animation Square, Dream, Blast Off, Live Action, Lakeside and Fantasy Forest zones.

However three zones – Dream, Blast Off and Adventurers’ Cartoon Factory in Animation Square, are undergoing technical rehearsals before they can operate.
