MB chides Kelana Jaya MP

- BY HAIKAL JALIL

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has reprimanded his political colleague, Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen, for publicising an audit conducted on the latter’s office.

“I myself have been audited before but I did not make it an issue as all parties, including MPs and state assemblymen, need to accept the process,” he said, adding that the state government will not interfere with the audit.

“If there are any issues, he should talk to the state government rather than making it public,” he said after attending a Hari Raya event at the Shah Alam Convention Centre yesterday.

On Wednesday, Wong revealed the audit report conducted on his office while claiming that his community spending was frozen by the Selangor government.

In May, Wong had criticised the state government’s audit of a RM250,000 budget allocated to his office, claiming it was unfair and lacked transparency.

Defending his move to make the matter public, Wong said he had repeatedly written to the state government on the matter but did not get a response.

Speaking on another matter at an earlier event at Institut Darul Ehsan, Mohamed Azmin said the court injunction granted to the state government to stop the Election Commission from submitting its redelineation report to the prime minister was a victory for all states in Peninsular Malaysia.

He added the order, granted by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Wednesday, was a landmark decision as it was the first in the country’s history.

“This is a big achievement. Not only will Selangor benefit from the decision, but all other states in Peninsular Malaysia will also not be using the proposed redelineation,” he said.

“This proves that the initiative taken by the state government defends the rights of not only the people of Selangor, but the whole nation.”
