Klopp to play by rules for van Dijk

-

LIVERPOOL won’t make a bid for Virgil van Dijk (pix) unless Southampton give them the green light to do so, reports claim.

Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a centreback and he is a keen admirer of Van Dijk.

The Dutchman is currently training alone and has made it abundantly clear he wishes to leave St Mary’s.

Liverpool were accused of ‘tapping up’ the 25-year-old, who has been valued at £50million (RM278m) last month.

At the time, they were forced to issue a public apology and were told to drop their interest.

Van Dijk has set his heart on a move to Liverpool, despite courting interest from Chelsea.

And now according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool officials have remained in touch

Awith their counterparts at St Mary’s in order to resurrect a deal.

This time though, the report adds, Liver- pool will wait to be invited to make a bid rather than anger Saints.

New Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino has already revealed he has told the player to train alone.

“The boy said that he is not available to play because he wants to leave,” Pellegrino said.

“This is the decision. I had to say ‘if you don’t want to be involved because you don’t feel OK, then you have to train alone until this period of time happens’.

“My relationship with Virgil is excellent. I was clear with the boy, and I was talking from the first day with him.

“I translated the idea of the club to the player and for me it was easy because I had to manage the dynamic of the team.” – Express Newspapers
