National cycling coach also hit by vehicle, suffers abrasions
Wahab, 25, Nur Syafiq Suhaimy, 19, and Khairul Nizam Mohd Ali, 23, at about 11am when they were involved in an accident with a fourwheel drive vehicle which fled the scene.
Police have arrested a 46-yearold man in connection with the incident. He was brought to the Kuala Selangor police district headquarters at 5.30pm yesterday for a urine test.
Mohd Nor Rizuan and Khairul Azwan, who had represented the country at the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro last year, were hot favourites for the Individual Time Trial gold medal at the Games scheduled to begin in Kuala Lumpur next week.
Kuala Selangor district police chief Supt Ruslan Abdullah said Johari, who was on a motorcycle, was also hit by the vehicle and suffered abrasions.
The accident happened at Km12.6 of the highway (eastbound), near the Bandar Tasik Puteri exit.
Ruslan said investigators later checked CCTV footage of the area to track down the driver.
The injured were sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital by an ambulance.
Ruslan urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the police.
Johari, 42, said Nur Syafiq and Khairul Azwan will not be able to participate in the Games and will be substituted by former national track sprinter Faizal Mohd Noh and his blind stoker Aiman Ashraf Ahmad Bajuri.
