KLANG: Police are looking for a man who whipped and injured his 52-year-old neighbour with a thick and long rotan in Bandar Baru Klang following a domestic squabble.

The assault was captured in a video that has gone viral since the incident on Wednesday at about 3.30pm.

It is learnt that the victim was engaged in a heated argument with his wife when his neighbour showed up at his house to check on the commotion.

Angry by his presence, the victim ticked off his neighbour for interfering and allegedly shouted profanities at him.

Police said moments later, two other men arrived at the house before one of them assaulted the victim with an almost metre-long rotan while the other man recorded the attack.

In the viral video, the victim is seen kneeling before his attacker who gives him a scolding in Hokkien before repeatedly beating the man with the rotan.

The victim collapses and begs his attacker to stop the beating while a child, believed to be the man’s son, cries uncontrollably on seeing the assault.

The victim’s wife was also captured sobbing in the footage.

The man, who suffered injury on his buttocks, legs and shoulder, was treated at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang.

Federal police corporate communications head SAC Datin Asmawati Ahmad said the suspect was identified as the victim’s neighbour and he is being sought by police.

She said the victim is believed to have been beaten up for admonishing his neighbour with profanities.
