AES camera along North-South Expressway vandalised

TANGKAK: An AES camera installed by the authoritie­s at Km151.4 of the North-South Expressway was not only damaged, but also had some of its components stolen.

Tangkak police chief Supt Mohad Idris Samsuri said the PLUS patrol unit received informatio­n about the incident at 9.35am yesterday.

“A PLUS patrol unit from Ayer Keroh, Malacca was sent to the scene at about 9.50am and found the camera vandalised,” he said.

Mohad Idris said initial investigat­ions also found that several components of the unit had been stolen.

“We believe the incident occurred between midnight and the next morning. We are investigat­ing under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing damage or loss to property,” he said.

The offence carries a five-year jail term or fine or both upon conviction.
