A Truck-ful of Taiwan culture
GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng received a courtesy call from a delegation from the General Association of Chinese Culture (GACC), Taiwan.
The call on Lim was part of the delegation’s effort in promoting “Art Truck Shows Taiwan 2017” on Sept 22 and Sept 23 at Penang City Hall and Auto City respectively from 7.30pm to 10pm.
The delegation was led by GACC vice-president Chiang Chun-Nan and he was accompanied by GACC deputy secretary-general Chang Tieh Chih and Lee Hou Ching.
Chiang said apart from promoting the event, he also hopes to facilitate cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Malaysia.
“I thank the state of Penang for the full support that has been given to the event. We feel very honoured by the reception and encouragement from the state government.
“Penang is the first stop for this project. As a show of appreciation, I want to personally invite the chief minister to come and enjoy the show,” he said during the press conference at Komtar.
Earlier at Evergreen Hotel during the launch of the show, he said the event will present Taiwan’s diverse and vibrant culture to Malaysians.
Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia Chang Chi-ping said he hoped Malaysia and Taiwan’s relationship will be further enhanced through corporation and cultural exchanges.
The art truck show has held 133 performances across 105 townships and villages all over Taiwan, witnessed by more than 170,000.
