Pixman gets death threats over online post

-

PETALING JAYA: A prominent Malaysian photographer has been bombarded with death threats following an online post made under his name that downgrades the Malays.

Keow Wee Loong said he has been harassed through phone calls and WhatsApp messages from unknown people who made threats against him and his wife, soon after the post surfaced on the internet.

“One of the callers told me to ‘be careful’ when I go out and watch out for a bullet to my head,” he said, adding that many of the callers had used profanities and racially-charged remarks against him.

“My wife was also targeted. She had to remove her number from her work webpage,” Keow said.

The post on Facebook, made on Sept 25, had stated that Singaporeans had rejected a Malay from becoming their president, adding that the Malays should not be given any political powers. The post, that was made using a duplicated version of Keow’s Facebook page, also called for all Malays to be removed from Malaysia and Singapore.

Keow is known for his deathdefying stunts of going up some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world to produce his work.

He said he made a police report at the Brickfields district police headquarters as soon as he was made aware of the post, that has been shared by other Facebook users.

“Some of them removed the post after I informed them of the police report.”

Keow said he was disappointed by the post as it had not only tarnished his name but also the image of Malaysia.
