‘Klopp is ready for Bayern’

-

JURGEN KLOPP has been tipped by Christoph Metzelder to become the new manager at Bayern Munich. Carlo Ancelotti was sacked from the Bundesliga giants after their Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last month. However, they are yet to name a permanent replacement with Willy Sagnol taking charge in a caretaker role. Thomas Tuchel, who lost his job as Borussia Dortmund boss at the end of last season, has been touted as a possibility. While young Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann, who has led his club to joint-second with Munich in the Bundesliga, is also being spoken about as an option.

But former Germany international Metzelder believes Klopp should be the man to replace Ancelotti.

“From my point of view, Jurgen Klopp would be ready,” Metzelder told Sky Germany.

“He is a top man-manager and could make the complex power relationship work wonderfully.”

Liverpool legend Phil Thompson admitted at the weekend he feared Klopp could be tempted to manage Munich if the call came.

“As much as I love Klopp, he’s been fantastic, Bayern Munich is one of the biggest teams in the world and he was forever selling his best players from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich,” Thompson told Sky Sports.

“He realised the size of the football club, always had respect for them even when they were doing that.

“So yes, I would think it would be a temptation for him. They will look and they’ll be looking at a lot of clubs.”

In another twist, Bayern have reportedly got in touch with Luis Enrique to discuss their vacant manager post.

Transfermarketweb claim the German giants have contacted former Barcelona boss Enrique about a possible switch away from Spain.

Enrique guided Barcelona to just their second treble in his first season in charge, with Pep Guardiola clinching the first.

He then led the Catalan club to a second successive La Liga title and another Copa Del Rey triumph the following year.

But Enrique shocked the world of football in March earlier this year when he announced he would step down as the Nou Camp manager, citing a need to rest as his reason for leaving.

“It’s been three unforgettable years. It’s a very difficult decision for me, one I’ve thought about a lot, but I think I need to be true to myself and fair to my way of thinking.”

Has he rested enough and is he ready for the job? Let’s wait and see. – Express Newspapers
