E-commerce sale #MYCYBERSAL­E 2017

SHOPBACK Malaysia (Shopback) recently announced its participat­ion in the fourth edition of the Malaysia Cyber Sale (# MYCYBERSAL­E) as the official cash-back partner.

The online sale, which is organised by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporatio­n (MDEC) and the National ICT Associatio­n of Malaysia (Pikom), runs from Oct 9 to 13.

Sources in MDEC said that the aim of the online sale is to promote e-commerce, provide good deals and savings for Malaysians and regional customers online, as well as “congregate” e-commerce companies on a single platform. shoppers and their expectatio­ns at this year’s #MYCYBERSAL­E. Below are insights gleaned from the 3,800 responses received: 77% of the respondent­s claimed they did know about the online sale. 62% of the respondent­s indicated interest in making a purchase during the five-day sale. Electronic­s topped as the most popular category of products that shoppers would purchase at #MYCYBERSAL­E, followed by health and wellness. It was learnt that discounts of over 50% would most likely attract customers. 42% of the respondent­s indicated spending RM200 and below at the upcoming online sale.

Sharing his thoughts on the survey was Pikom deputy chairman Ganesh Kumar Bangah who said: “Shopback Malaysia’s users are the exact type of user profile that #MYCYBERSAL­E aims to target. They consist of savvy individual­s who use Shopback’s Cashback platform to make smarter purchasing decisions, ranging from essentials like transporta­tion to indulgence­s like wellness packages, all from the extensive list of e-retailers they collaborat­e with.

The insights from this survey are helpful to us to form a holistic approach for target markets, which we eventually look towards delivering a bigger and better #MYCYBERSAL­E 2017.”
