JOHOR BARU: A Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) officer and six personnel who allegedly let their guard down at an entertainment centre in Muar near here, have been transferred to other departments with immediate effect.

Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said disciplinary action was taken on the policemen after police received information about the incident.

“Police cannot compromise on any disciplinary breach and will act sternly against those involved,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

He said all police officers and personnel must live up to the integrity required of them in upholding the image of the police force as the country’s main law enforcer.

Mohd Khalil was commenting on a video which went viral on Facebook showing the policemen, believed to be from Unit D7, Muar District Police headquarters, “having fun” at an entertainment centre at Pusat Perniagaan Bakri, Muar.

The nine-second recording was circulated early yesterday through the Facebook account, “Koleksi Video Viral”.

Bukit Aman began investigations into the video recording on Sunday.

It is understood that one of the policemen is an inspector, who heads the Pagoh police station. The others are said to be a corporal, four lance corporals and a detective corporal.

The lance corporal and detective corporal are attached to the Secret Society, Gaming and Vice Division (D7) while the corporal and three lance corporals are from a task force.
