#MyCyberSale 2017 is the biggest one yet

-

THE FOURTH #MyCyberSale, which ends this Friday, sees a record-breaking number of merchants and service partners taking part in this great online sales festival, which was launched last week in Kuala Lumpur.

There are over 20 retail categories to choose from, including electronics, fashion, baby and children products, travel, health and beauty, home and living, food and beverage, wellness services, home appliances, and sporting equipment.

#MyCyberSale 2017 is the result of the collaboration between the National ICT Association of Malaysia (Pikom) and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDec).

At the launch were Pikom’s chairman Chin Chee Seong and deputy chairman Ganesh Kumar Bangah, as well as MDec chief executive officer Datuk Yasmin Mahmood.

“We have over 1,000 online merchants participating,” said Ganesh. “This is a 66% increase from 2016’s 607 merchants. Of the 1,000, a total of 497 are exporters, a 50% jump from the 260 that took part in 2016.”

#MyCyberSale 2017 is expected to achieve more than RM300 million in sales.

The merchants and service partners in this year’s festival include Fusionex, iPay88, Skynet, SF Express, LWE (Logistics Worldwide Express), Involve Asia, Shippop, Exabytes Asia, Akamai, 11street, eGentic, Shopee, Aramax, eGHL, Payoneer, Maybank, Telekom Malaysia, Celcom, and Malaysia Airlines.

Ganesh added that #MyCyberSale 2017 will also be promoting micro-enterprises for the first time. This segment represents 10% of the merchant base.

This action will be in line with this year’s theme for the event, which is Catalysing Micro Enterprises and Global Trade.

This year, a total of 40% of #MyCyberSale 2017 cost is being funded by corporations and retail brands, which is on track with the festival’s ultimate goal of being self-sustaining in the future. Previously, the #MyCyberSale events were almost fully funded by the government.

Citizens or permanent residents of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Brunei, who purchase items worth at least RM50 in a single receipt in the #MyCyberSale 2017 will stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes, such as a trip to Korea, kitchen and home appliances, mobile phones and more.
