COMMENCING the academic year of 2017, SEGi University’s Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment (FoEBE) has launched a new undergraduate programme; the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Architecture.

The programme boasts a progressive coursework, as well as theoretical classes, to equip students with the latest developments in architectural and design industries.

Spearheaded by dedicated and passionate lecturers, students will be exposed to industry knowledge and experience as the very same lecturers are practising architects that have been certified by Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) Pt 2.

With approximately 1,300 students, FoEBE is among the largest faculties in SEGi University. Apart from architecture, the faculty offers a wide range of programmes in automotive engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, electronic & electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and quantity surveying.

Also present at the launching ceremony were renowned local architects, Ar. Serina Hijjas, director of Hijjas Kasturi Associates Sdn, and Ar. Adrianta Aziz, a representative of the Malaysian Institute of Architects and managing director of AR RAD Architects PLT.

Stacked with over 20 years of experience in architectural planning and design, and with her architecture firm being one of the leading practices in Malaysia, Serina was present to deliver a talk on “Architecture Sustainability and Future Trends”. Hijjas Kasturi Associates Sdn is notable for designing several of the nation’s most iconic buildings such as the Menara Telekom, the Securities Commission, and Tabung Haji.

Other guests were from Universiti Teknology Mara (UiTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), Public Works Department and AJM Planning & Urban Design Group. Prof Ramlan Abdullah, a senior lecturer of UiTM generously sponsored two table sculptures as souvenirs for Serina and Adrianta.
