Three perish, 11 injured in two road crashes

JOHOR BARU: A man was killed after the car he was driving rammed into the metal divider in Jalan Bakar Batu, near Permas Jaya, yesterday morning.

Johor Baru Selatan district police chief ACP Shahurinai­n Jais said the driver, Too Kim Seng, 56, was heading to Permas Jaya around 6.50am when the accident happened.

“Initial investigat­ions revealed that Too lost control of his vehicle before ramming into the metal road divider,” Shahurinai­n said.

“The driver died on the spot,” he added.

Too was from Bakri new village, Muar. His remains were sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital here for post mortem.

Police said the case is being investigat­ed under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous and reckless driving.

In SUNGAI PETANI, two people were killed and 11 others injured when a car collided with a van transporti­ng factory workers near Kampung Padang Buluh early yesterday.

In the 5.55am incident, the car crashed head-on with the van, which was heading towards Sungai Petani.

The impact of the collision caused the van to spin several times, throwing all 10 passengers out of the vehicle.

One of the female passengers, Nur Izaty Syafinaz Zamri, 20, (pix), was killed when she was crushed by the car. Also killed was the car driver.

All 11 people who were injured were rushed to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital.
