AMPANG JAYA: The Datuk Sri who allegedly assaulted three People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) members last Friday has been remanded for four days starting yesterday to facilitate investigations.

The remand order was issued against the Datuk Sri by a magistrate at the Ampang Jaya magistrate’s court yesterday.

When contacted, Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat confirmed this.

The suspect will be held at the district headquarters lock-up.

Earlier, the Datuk Sri arrived at the magistrate’s court clad in a white polo Tshirt, embroidered with the Winner Dynasty Group emblem, and black pants. He was seen smiling and did not shield his face.

While being escorted to the courtroom, he said “justice will prevail” in Mandarin.

Two unidentified men, believed to be his companions, were also seen waiting in the vicinity as members of the media took videos and photos.

He is being investigated under Section 324 Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means and Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in discharge of his public functions.

Magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali granted the order.

In the 6.30am incident, one of them had told the suspect that his car, which was parked in front of the temple, was causing traffic congestion.

However, this led to him and two more Rela members, who came forward to defuse the situation, being beaten up.

They then made a police report at the Ampang police station and headed to the hospital nearby for treatment.

On Monday evening, the suspect surrendered to Ampang police.

Meanwhile, Pahang State Secretary Datuk Seri Muhammad Safian Ismail neither confirmed nor denied rumours that the suspect had received his honorary title from the state.

“Let the police conclude their actions first,” he said in a short text to theSun.

On the Kedah royal logo purportedly embossed on the supect’s calling card, checks revealed the Kedah Royal Household Association (Persatuan Kerabat Diraja Kedah) had ceased to exist from Sept 26, 2013.

It was replaced by the Kedah Royal Family Council (Majlis Kerabat Diraja Kedah) in the same year following a number of cases reported involving the abuse of its emblem for personal interest. It is learnt that the Kedah Royal Family Council is also registered under the Registrar of Societies.
