ICQS ‘full of dust, dirt’
> Ahmad Zahid unhappy with maintenance at new complex at north border checkpoint
BUKIT KAYU HITAM: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is unhappy with conditions at the new Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex here, saying maintenance at the premises had not been done properly.
“The complex is full of dust and dirt. It is not ready.”
Ahmad Zahid said besides looking at the operation of the ICQS, the High Level Committee (HLC) members had also looked into the safety and maintenance aspects.
He said there was room for improvement, especially on the maintenance of Phase One of ICQS, that has commenced full operations 18 hours daily.
“Our officers have to wear face masks when they are on duty. We need to monitor the maintenance seriously as the ICQS is supposed to be a presentable complex for visitors,” he said, adding that the developer has promised to improve and complete the complex.
Ahmad Zahid said the HLC would continue to monitor the progress of Phase Two. The second phase is expected to operate around the clock from January next year.
On another matter, Ahmad Zahid said former Malaysian Bar president Datuk S. Ambiga should be responsible for all information that she provided to the Sarawak Report news portal.
“She should not just hide and stay away. She cannot just wash her hands on this issue.”
A news portal reported that Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown had named Ambiga as the source of the information on PAS allegedly receiving RM90 million from the prime minister.
In her defence statement dated Oct 11 to a lawsuit filed in London by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, RewcastleBrown claimed she and Ambiga had spoken about Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, 1 Malaysia Development Berhad and PAS.
