Homegrown brands awarded
THE Manhattan Fish Market and its franchisor Revenue Valley Sdn Bhd emerged champions of the night at the recent Malaysia Franchise Awards 2017 (MFA 2017). The awards ceremony is hosted and organised by the Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) and the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) . MFA 2017 included: “Most Promising Franchisor of the Year” which went to Dessert Captain Sdn Bhd (Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendol); Grand Companions Sdn Bhd (Tony Roma’s) won the “Master Franchisee” category; “Homegrown Franchisee of the Year” was awarded to M-Gate Sdn Bhd (Senheng); and The Redbean House Sdn Bhd, a franchisee of Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendol, won the “Most Promising Homegrown Franchisee of the Year”.
Special awards were also handed out to Senheng Electric (KL) Sdn Bhd (“Best Franchise Corporate Social Responsibility Award”) and Global Art & Creative Sdn Bhd (“Best Franchise Innovation Award”). present was the ministry’s deputy secretary-general Datuk Razali Othman and MFA chairman Datuk Radzali Hassan.
During the event, a franchise agreement was exchanged between Malaysian franchisors and master franchisees, two of which were between The Manhattan Fish Market and its Chinese parent franchisee; and Aquanano with its Indonesian master franchisee.
Said Radzali about the attainment of the awards and its recipients: “This award recognises the franchise players who have contributed to the development of the franchise industry in Malaysia.
It also encourages local innovations and recognises the contributions and support of various stakeholders who further develop the franchise industry in Malaysia.”
