Ride stronger, farther and safer with Garmin

-

GARMIN Malaysia (Garmin) recently unveiled its latest offerings: the Vector 3 and 3S power meters and the Edge 1030 GPS cycling computer. Both provide convenience to enhance the cycling enthusiast’s experience.

VECTOR 3/3S POWER METERS

The new Vector power meters come in two variants: Vector 3 which contains a dual sensing function to measure total power, left right balance, cadence and advance cycling dynamics; and the Vector 3S designed with a single sensing function to measure cadence and total power.

Both the Vector 3 and Vector 3S feature a sleek pedal-based design to provide cyclists with greater cornering clearance and improved stack height for better ergonomic position. The Vector 3 even shows cyclists how and where they are producing power, helping them tailor their training towards improving their form. This model also tracks seating and standing positions, determining when and how long cyclists are in each, to gauge position effectiveness. Power Phases inform riders how they are producing power with every pedal stroke, while Platform Centre Offset determines where power is applied on the pedal for proper cleat position.

The Vector 3S on the other hand uses the forces detected on the left pedal to measure cadence and approximate total power, and can be easily upgraded later to the dual-sensing system Vector 3.

The smart gadgets also compose LED lights that display setup and maintenance information. With the sensors housed in the pedals, data is reliable and accurate at every training session. Garmin vicepresident of worldwide sales Dan Bartel added that the completely redesigned pedalbased power meters do not have a pod and installs like any other pedal. “It is easy to install, requires no professional assistance and is easily transferable from one bike to another. It is also affordable and an innovative creation that helps cyclists aiming to beat their personal best on their next race, ride farther, stronger and more often,” Bartel added.

EDGE 1030 GPS COMPUTER

The Edge 1030 GPS is the second member to join the Garmin family. The high-end cycling computer provides cyclists with information on not just routes but the best on and off-road routes possible via the new Trendline, using billions of miles of ride data from its network, Garmin Connect. Cyclists and adventurers can enjoy every experience hitting the trails or streets with more confidence as the clever gadget is pre-loaded with Garmin Cycle Maps that feature turn-byturn directions for all terrains, even alerting the rider of sharp curves ahead. Excellent in all weather conditions, the Edge 1030 works with or without gloves. Ambient light sensors auto adjust the screen’s brightness, making it easy to read/ view during day and night. There is also smart connectivity features that allow rider-to-rider messaging, view and respond to missed calls or texts with prewritten replies. Another excellent feature is the “incident detection” which automatically sends a cyclists’ location to emergency contacts if they run into trouble.

Loaded with heapsfull more features that provide vital information, both gadgets are readily available and sold at Garmin’s headquarters in Cheras, as well as concept stores around the country. For more information, visit www.garmin.com.my
