Spurs ace targeted by Barcelona and Juventus

-

TOTTENHAM midfielder Christian Eriksen is reportedly a target for Barcelona and Juventus. The playmaker has been a key component of Mauricio Pochettino’s side since they turned from top four outsiders to genuine title contenders.

The Dane was bought with the money Spurs gained from selling Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for £85million in 2013. Eriksen set the club back £12.5m and has gone on to prove his worth by scoring 47 goals including some memorable long-range efforts.

But now his performances have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s elite, including Ernesto Valverde’s Barcelona.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo report that Barcelona and Juventus are keeping tabs on the 25-year-old.

Eriksen scored a hattrick for Denmark in a 5-1 World Cup qualifying win against the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday.

And with his stock continuing to rise Barcelona could see him as the ideal midfielder to sign if they fail to land Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho in January.

The Catalan giants have been persistent in their desire to take the Brazilian to the Nou Camp. But Liverpool are holding out until their valuation is met.

The stumbling block could be Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, who is a tough negotiator and has already previously said: “If PSG has paid for Neymar £222 million, Eriksen costs £225m.”

If the Coutinho deal is not agreed by the end of the window then a move for Eriksen would be highly likely.

Meanwhile Juventus, who are one point behind Napoli in the Serie A table, are openly interested in bolstering their squad in the January window in a bid to secure an eighth straight league title.
