BToto posts RM61m profit in Q2, proposes 4 sen dividend

-

PETALING JAYA: Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd’s (BToto) net profit for the second quarter ended Oct 31, 2017 was flat at RM61.73 million compared with RM62.15 million in the previous corresponding period.

Its revenue fell from RM1.45 billion to RM1.38 billion, mainly due to lower revenue from H.R. Owen Plc and the recognition of substantial project contract sales by International Lottery & Totalizator Systems Inc in the previous year’s corresponding quarter.

However, the drop was mitigated by higher revenue registered by Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Philippine Gaming Management Corp.

The group has proposed to declare an interim dividend of four sen per share, payable on Feb 13, 2018.

BToto told Bursa Malaysia going forward, it does not foresee any substantial change in the business environment in which its businesses operate for the remaining quarters of the financial year ending April 30, 2018.

Nonetheless, it remains confident that the group will continue to maintain its market share in the number forecast operation (NFO) segment.

“Our core NFO business undertaken by Sports Toto continue to be adversely impacted by rampant illegal gaming activities as well as weak consumer spending and sentiments.”

BToto’s six-month net profit increased 12.5% from RM120.89 million to RM136.04 million, with revenue declining 1.2% from RM2.89 billion to RM2.86 billion.
