XI TO OVERSEE ARMED POLICE
BEIJING: The Communist Party of China (CPC) will further consolidate its grip on power in January when it takes sole control of the People’s Armed Police, experts said yesterday. The paramilitary police force was formerly under the control of the State Council, China’s cabinet, as well as the Central Military Commission, an organ of the CPC. As of Jan 1, it will only be overseen by the Central Military Commission, which is chaired by President Xi Jinping. – dpa
