WITH elfin looks to match, the petite Gan Mei Yan looks delicate and perhaps even a tad fragile. Her face belies her age; at 33, she can easily pass off for someone in her mid-20s. But make no mistake. The My.FM Breakfast Show deejay is a woman of substance who knows exactly what she wants and what’s good for her.

“Keeping early hours (she’s off to work at 5am as she’s the host of the Breakfast Show

“After just three months of use, I was pleased to see good results. My skin looks and feels great now. The good thing about derma skincare is that one can see results within a shorter time. I’m particularly happy about the night cream. When I wake up, I can already feel that my skin is firmer. Isn’t that better than having to go for hyaluronic injections?” she adds with a twinkle in her eye.

She is also pleased that the derma skincare products she is now using includes sunscreen. “That is so important, especially in our hot, tropical climate,” she stresses.

She concedes that while there may be no such thing as perfect skin, she will do everything she can to ensure her skin stays naturally beautiful and healthy. She believes she can achieve this through using the right skincare products and making good lifestyle choices.

But having said that, Gan sheepishly confesses that she has little patience and not much time for an extensive, complicated beauty regime, especially since she has to juggle her waking hours between a fulltime career and her young family. She also tries to prepare meals at home for her family, especially her toddler son.

When asked about her beauty routine, she chuckles softly and says: “Five minutes. I spend five minutes on my face in the early morning – mostly because I’m usually still sleepy – and I’m off to work at 5am. And then it’s another five minutes to cleanse and slap on moisturiser before I jump into bed.”

One thing for sure, she advises testing skincare products first. “For instance, I have sensitive skin. If I use the wrong product, my skin will go red and start to itch; I will also get rashes. When that happens, I need to apply a cooling mask before I use skincare products,” she explains.

She did try skincare from big cosmetic houses before she made the switch to derma skincare.

“There are two main reasons. First, derma skincare is backed by years of research and development by dermatologists who determine what really works and it offers solutions with active ingredients that are effective for various skin ages and conditions. Apart from this, the affordable price is also a big consideration,” she says.
