Reputable institution
> Melaka-Manipal Medical College refined its programmes and courses over 20 years
AMOST sought after institution when it comes to top tier medical education in and around Malaysia, Melaka-Manipal Medical College (MMMC) is the third private medical school established in the country since its inception 20 years ago.
Following its conception, MMMC has consistently delivered highly proficient medical professionals for the local and international health system.
After its flagship MBBS in 1997, MMMC pushed out the exceedingly popular Dentistry degree (BDS) in 2009.
Following these programmes, the pre-University level Foundation in Science (FiS) in 2012 followed suit, with each programme being fully accredited.
Realising that financial assistance for students in preuniversity programmes are practically non-existent, MMMC is now offering scholarships for students who wish to undertake FiS in the institution this year.
The scholarships are available for 2017 SPM/‘O’ Level schoolleavers with even just 5As, as long as the particular student meets statutory entry requirements.
These favourable terms and conditions bode well for Foundation applicants that wish to subsequently pursue their passion for medicine and dentistry.
For SPM leavers who are passionate in following the noble pursuit of healing but are weighed down by worries that finance may be a difficulty, MMMC invites calls so that more details of the scholarships and programmes can be acquired.
MMMC’s accolades include being the first private institution granted a five-year accreditation by MQA/MoHE Joint Technical Committee for the MBBS in 2009; the Brandlaureate Superbrand Best in Education – Medicine in 2011; and the consecutive 6-Stars in various categories for 2011 and 2013 in MoHE’s MyQuest ratings of private colleges.
MMMC’s MBBS needs very little introduction as it has been around since the late 90s. The institution’s alumni are practising their calling successfully, all the way from the US, across Europe and Asia to the land down under.
This is attributed to the intense and expert training that students at Melaka-Manipal go through for the most sought-after degrees.
The BDS programme, in its own right, is such a lure that its “seats” are taken up a full 18 months ahead of an intake, and if one wishes to enrol for this dental surgery undergraduate programme, the only way into it is via MMMC’s homegrown FiS.
The FiS students are given priority in applying for BDS before external candidates are considered.
At its launch in 2012, MMMC was the first to include medicine and dentistry subjects in its Foundation curriculum.
By introducing students to the basics of subjects they would face in their eventual preferred degree programmes, it facilitates their settling down in the MBBS and BDS studies much faster. The scholarships offered will help students who are concerned about finance being a major roadblock in the pursuit of their aspirations.
