Student lied about kidnapping, say police

-

SHAH ALAM: A secondary school student who claimed that he was almost abducted by three men in a white van last Friday lied about the abduction.

Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Hamzah Alias said the boy admitted it after police questioned him.

“We found that the 12-year-old student made up the story due to stress. He was apparently pressured to concentrate on his studies and was not given enough playtime,” he said yesterday.

It was learnt that the injury to the boy’s arm was due to him accidentally breaking a window while playing football and not because of a kidnapping attempt.

Hamzah said that lodging false police reports is a serious offence and police will decide whether to take further action.

According to the police report, which went viral on social media on Monday, the boy claimed that the incident took place at noon while waiting for his school bus at a bus stop in Taman Pandan Indah.

He claimed a van stopped at the bus stop and that two men allegedly dragged him into the vehicle.

The boy said he was in the van for several minutes until he saw the Pandan Jaya signboard and a bus stop, and then bit the abductor’s arm before attempting to escape.

He added the man seated in the front passenger seat then opened the door at which point the boy allegedly took the opportunity to kick the man and escape to a bus stop nearby.

The boy then claimed he took a bus to go to school adding that he sustained an injury to his hand after accidentally bumping into a door at school.

The incident was then reported to a teacher in his school while the boy was receiving treatment at the Ampang Hospital.

The teacher then contacted the boy’s parents, who picked him up at the school and later lodged a report at the Pandan Indah police station.
