RM4 million drugs seized
> Raids conducted over two days also result in arrest of three from syndicate
KUALA LUMPUR: City police seized 52.3kg of various drugs and spiked drinks worth more than RM4 million on Monday and Tuesday – the biggest drug haul in the city this year.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Lazim said in an operation on Monday morning, a team from the City Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department detained a couple in their 30s and inspected their vehicle at the Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park.
“We found 10 packets of Ecstasy powder in the vehicle. Following interrogation, the two locals led police to a house in Taman Salak Selatan where 308 packets of Ecstasy powder, 800 Eramin 5 pills, a packet of ganja, three ganja cigarettes and 20 packets of Ketamine were seized.”
Mazlan said the duo subsequently led police to a 31-year-old mastermind, who was picked up at a condominium in Sunway Damansara, Petaling Jaya, at about 6.40pm on Tuesday.
During the raid, police found another 38.2kg of Ecstasy powder and nine packets of Ketamine in the unit, that was being used to process and package drugs.
The syndicate had been actively distributing to entertainment outlets in the Klang Valley for about a year.
The suspects have been remanded under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
On a separate matter, Mazlan said police are intensifying efforts to identify the person responsible for throwing an office chair that struck and killed a 14-yearold boy at a low-cost flat in Pantai Dalam on Monday.
He said police are waiting for the results of DNA tests on the chair.
“We have to investigate this thoroughly. We cannot simply point fingers,” Mazlan added.
He stressed that police are investigating all angles, especially now that the case has been classified as murder.
No arrests have been made so far over the incident.
