Four cops nabbed in drug ‘sting’
KUALA LUMPUR: Four policemen were among seven civil servants arrested after they tested positive for drug abuse at an entertainment outlet here on Sunday.
It is learnt one of the policemen detained is an assistant investigations officer attached to the Gombak district police headquarters.
The others nabbed in the raid were a staff from the Air Force, a male nurse and an administrative assistant.
They were nabbed following a joint operation conducted by the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department and the Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING) between 3am and 7.45am at the night club located in Jalan Doraisamy here.
The raiding party also nabbed two underage girls and another 16 policemen, including two auxiliary policemen attached to various district police headquarters.
Sources said police screened 505 people at the night club and 56, aged between 18 and 50, tested positive for drug abuse.
“The seven civil servants, aged between 20 and 40, were brought to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters for further investigations,” a source said.
A total of 20 Ecstasy pills were also seized during the operation.
Those who tested positive positive for drug abuse will be investigated under Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Police personnel come under strict guidelines stipulated in the Inspector-General of Police Standing Order, and are prohibited from patronising nightclubs and certain entertainment centres. – by Ashwin Kumar
