KUALA LUMPUR: Two days ago, Nor Farah Farhan Abdul Fattah was charged at the Petaling Jaya magistrate’s court with misappropriating more than RM27,000 meant for holiday packages to Korea last year.

Today, she was brought to the Ampang magistrate’s court and charged with two counts of committing a similar offence and another with cheating.

On the first count, the woman and a friend, Noraini Nordin, 62, were jointly charged with misappropriating RM8,187 in payment made by one Che Ajar Mat, 46, for a holiday package to Korea, with the offence allegedly committed at CIMB Pandan Indah, Ampang, at 6pm on Jan 14.

Both the women pleaded not guilty to the charge before magistrate Haslinda A. Raof.

On the second count, Nor Farah Farhan, 36, was charged with committing a similar offence involving RM3,620 belonging to one Sabariah Mohamed, 47, which was payment for a holiday package to Korea, by transferring the money into a Maybank account under Syarikat Azam Impian Resources at Apartment Seri Hijau, Ukay Perdana.

Both the charges were made under Section 403 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to five years and whipping and fine.

On the third count, Nor Farah Farhan, who has three children, was charged with cheating one Noor Azah Aziz, 61, by deceiving the senior citizen into depositing RM16,900 into her (Nor Farah Farhan’s) Maybank account.

The offence was allegedly committed in Lorong Mawar 1, Taman Maju Jaya, Jalan Cheras, at 11pm on Dec 30, 2017.

The charge was made under Section 417 of the Penal Code, which provides for an imprisonment of up to five years or fine, or both.

Nor Farah Farhan also pleaded not guilty to the second and third charges.

DPP Nadiah Malek Fauzie asked for a bail of RM20,000 for all three charges for Nor Farah Farhan, and bail of RM10,000 for Noraini.

However, Nor Farah Farhan’s lawyer Muhd Aizat Fakri sought lower bail, saying his client was no longer working and her husband, a construction site supervisor, earned only RM3,000 a month and they had three children, including one suffering from leukemia, to support.

The court set bail at RM10,700 in one surety on all charges for Nor Farah Farhan, and Noraini, who was unrepresented, was allowed bail of RM5,000 in one surety.

The court also set March 2 and 13 for mention. – Bernama
