A133-MINUTE extended version of the Lee Chong Wei movie, which portrays the rise of the badminton icon, will be screened at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur Sports City, on March 9.

The event will be attended by Lee, together with other badminton legends, celebrities, as well as the film’s director Teng Bee, and cast members.

The premiere screening of this extended version of the film, which will not be shown in cinemas, is set to be the largest movie screening event in Malaysia, playing on a speciallybuilt giant 40-by-17-metre LED screen to an expected crowd of 20,000.

The film’s executive producer, Datuk Joe Lee – who is also the badminton star’s brother – said: “Chong Wei ( below) has not seen the film and will be watching it for the first time with everyone who will be attending the event. It will be a special occasion for Chong Wei and everyone present.”

This premiere screening will also feature a 100m-long Red Carpet Walk for Malaysia’s badminton greats – including members of the triumphant Thomas Cup 1992 team.

There will also be performances of the movie’s theme songs, as well as a carnival of sponsored booths to entertain the crowd.

Tickets are available via the MyTicket Asia website, or on the ground at the Axiata Arena box office in Bukit Jalil.

Each ticket holder is entitled to redeem one Lee Chong Wei movie T-shirt valued at RM59, one GSC movie ticket to watch the theatrical version of the movie, one limited edition movie poster autographed by Lee and the movie cast, and one sponsored movie bag, at the stadium on the day of the special screening.

Ticket holders will also stand a chance to win limited edition prizes, such as Yonex Lee Chong Wei badminton racquets, Samsung smartphones, copies of the film books, as well as other prizes in a lucky draw.
