PETALING JAYA: A man a l l e g e dl y k i l l e d hi s girlfriend in a crime of passion at a shopping mall car park here and then drove 6km to the Damansara police station with her body to turn himself in.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the victim, Tharani Devarajoo , 32, was a clerk in a management office of a condominium in Kota Damansara. She is believed to have died of a stab wound to her neck.

Police arrested the 37-year-old man, who is an in-house security guard.

Preliminary investigations showed the woman and suspect were lovers, and were in her car at

the shopping mall car park in Kota Damansara when the incident occurred at 1.30pm.

“We have yet to determine what really happened but the man allegedly stabbed his girlfriend with a sharp weapon while they were in the car. We have recovered the weapon,” Mohd Zani ( pix) told a press conference at the Damansara police station yesterday.

The man, who is a colleague of the victim, drove the car to the police station at 4pm and related the crime to the front desk personnel.

Sources revealed that the recovered murder weapon was a knife and jealousy could be the motive.

Forensics police were at the police station to comb the car for clues.

Just before 7pm, investigators left with the suspect for the crime scene in Jalan PJU5.

Several of the victim’s family members and friends also turned up at the police station yesterday.

The woman’s body was later sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre for a post mortem.
