‘Civil servants backbone of government’
PUTRAJAYA: The 97.6% achievement of government initiatives over the last five years would not have been possible without the efforts of dedicated government servants, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
Describing them as the government’s backbone, the premier attributed the country’s ranking as the number one in Asia under the World Economic Forum’s Inclusive Development Index as testament to the close cooperative ties between elected officials and government servants.
“We are number one in Asia and 13th in the world. China is ranked 25 and India 62.
“This could not be possible without the strong support of government servants who back our initiatives for a better Malaysia,” he said during the Prime Minister’s Department monthly meeting in Perdana Putra yesterday.
In calling on civil servants to continue working as a team, he pledged to continue to ensure more progress for Malaysia.
“If 2017 was the year of delivery, this year, the government’s aim is for the people to witness the country’s achievements in setting new landmarks and continued productivity.”
On the 14th general election, Najib called on government servants to consider several deciding factors.
“This year is a big year, many will make decisions that will impact the future of the country.”
