Let the lights shine

-

AFTER January’s IMM Cologne, Maison & Objet and the Paris Déco Off fringe interiors shows, new trends are taking shape in the world of furniture and interior design.

Here are some of this season’s standout lighting designs:

Reine With its 3D fabric shade and steel structure, this lamp references the ruffs worn in western Europe from the mid-16th century to the mid-17th century.

Ondule This year, the Ondule table lamp by Chape & Mache for Cinna has been turned into a wall light. Fans of the original will find the same winding design, resulting from experiments with a copper tube.

Dali Divina The Dali Divina table lamp for Maison Dada has a shade that can be angled to direct light in different directions. To switch it on, simply touch the little sphere that serves as its on/off switch.

Lutz Founded in 2016, Versant Edition is a young contemporary design brand based in the Pyrenees. Its Lutz (‘light’ in the Gascon language) lamp is made from brass and marble.

Banana The banana-shaped lamp by Studio Job for Seletti returns this year as a wall light.

Kiki Italian designer Paola Navone was inspired by Japanese lanterns when designing this outdoor light for Martinelli Luce. Kiki is suitable for use in gardens or other outdoor spaces.

Asola The Asola lamp by designer Evangelos Vasileiou is a Dali Divina Reine Asola nod to the 1970s and 1980s. Made from perforated steel – a material that was popular at the time – its white Kiki colour and stylised mushroom shape evokes iconic lamps from this time, like the Nesso lamp designed in 1965 by Lutz Banana Ondule Giancarlo Mattioli, or the Shogun by Mario Botta designed in 1986 (Artemide). – AFPRelaxnews
