Also seized in the raids was a “recipe” note on how to process chemicals into drugs.

Federal police Narcotic Investigation Department director Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh said the raids were conducted by Bukit Aman’s Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group as well as Selangor and Negri Sembilan police.

“With the total seizure of drugs and chemicals worth RM4.3 million, we managed to intercept drug supplies which could have catered to half a million addicts in the country.

“In the first raid on Feb 13, two locals and three Indian nationals aged between 29 and 40 were detained at a syabu-processing laboratory at Kampung Kundur Tengah, Pedas in Rembau,” he said at a press conference at the Rembau district police headquarters here yesterday.

Mohmad said police seized some laboratory apparatus used to process the drugs and 84kg of liquid which could produce up to 33.6kg of syabu.

Following the first raid, police also launched a five day-long separate operation to hunt down drug syndicates in Kajang, Batu Caves, and Ampang in Selangor.

“In one of the raids, police detained a man in Bandar Teknologi Kajang and sized various chemicals to process the drugs. In the third and fourth operations, we arrested four men in their 20s in Kajang.”

A man and a woman, aged 37 and 51, were arrested in an operation at Batu Caves.

In the final two raids, police seized 26.52kg of syabu in Taman Cempaka, Ampang and also smashed drug-trafficking attempts in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam, after detaining three men and a local woman.

He said in total, 16 individuals were detained, with eight found to be members of Gang 36. Investigators also seized assets worth RM323,000.
