JOHOR BARU: Malaysia and Singapore police joined hands to cripple a drug syndicate following the arrest of 14 suspects, including six Singaporeans and one Thai national in an operation here on Friday.

Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said police seized RM1.2 million worth of drugs, five luxury cars and cash totalling RM423,000.

“This is a major success in collaboration with Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau,” he said at the state police contingent headquarters yesterday.

Mohd Khalil said four raids in one day were conducted by Bukit Aman’s Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group, federal police narcotics criminal investigation department and state police from 12pm to 3.30pm on Friday.

Police raided and arrested suspects in Mount Austin, Taman Desa Jaya and Stulang Laut in Johor Baru.

“For all the suspects arrested in Johor Baru, Singapore police provided some information in the case.

“Police believe the syndicate had been active in the local market since last month. “It also provided drugs in Singapore.” Five suspects had previous criminal and drug-related records and six tested positive for drugs in a urine test.

Police seized 12.8kg syabu, 4,333 ecstasy pills, 200 pills of Erimin 5 and 0.95g of ketamine.

All suspects are being remanded until March 2 pending investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
